Javier Lorenzo is an Associate Professor of Department of Informatics and Systems and Researcher of the Institute SIANI (Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering) at University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He received his M.Sc. in Informatics in 1992 from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In 2003 he obtained his PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the work entitled "Feature Selection in Machine Learning based on Information Theory" from which he obtained the Best PhD Award.

His research interests include:

• Machine Learning and Data Mining
• Wind Farm Power Prediction

The GD measure has been included in the Infosel++: Information Based Feature Selection C++ Library (A. Kachel et al.,2010).
